What We Collect
When you subscribe to Manx News Hub, we collect your email address — nothing else. No name, no phone number, no billing details. Just the email you provide.
Why We Collect It
Your email address is used for one purpose only: to deliver Isle of Man news briefings to your inbox. We will never use it for marketing, sell it, share it, or disclose it to any third party.
How We Store It
Your email is stored in an encrypted database on a secured server in Amsterdam, Netherlands (within the EU). Access is restricted to the system administrators of Manx News Hub.
Email Delivery
Briefings are sent via Amazon Simple Email Service (SES), hosted in the London (eu-west-2) region. Amazon processes your email address solely to deliver messages on our behalf. No data leaves the UK/EU.
Cookies & Tracking
This website sets no cookies of any kind. There are no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, no third-party tags. We don't track email opens or link clicks.
Your Rights
Under the Isle of Man Data Protection Act 2018 (which mirrors UK/EU GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data
- Portability — receive your data in a standard format
- Object — object to processing of your data
To exercise any of these rights, email reply@manxnewshub.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Consent
Subscription requires double opt-in: you enter your email, then confirm via a link sent to that address. This confirms your consent to receive briefings. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
Unsubscribing
Every briefing email contains an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by:
- Clicking the unsubscribe link in any briefing email
- Using your email client's native unsubscribe button (Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook)
- Emailing reply@manxnewshub.com with "unsubscribe" in the subject
Unsubscription takes effect immediately. After unsubscribing, your email is kept on a suppression list for 30 days (to prevent accidental re-sends), then permanently deleted.
Data Retention
- Active subscribers: Data retained until you unsubscribe
- After unsubscribe: Email on suppression list for 30 days, then deleted
- Unconfirmed signups: Automatically deleted after 48 hours
Legal Basis
We process your email address under Article 6(1)(a) — Consent of the IoM Data Protection Act 2018. You provide this consent through the double opt-in process and may withdraw it at any time.
